Not All Butterflies are Pretty....But All Princesses Are

This morning we had to go to the hospital lab to have a Hemoglobin blood test done. I assumed it was the same as all the rest that were taken from her thumb so I put some Emla Cream on her thumb an hour before we went. We got there and the lab nurse told us it would be drawn from her arm with the Butterfly Needle....I was a little surprised, I had already explained to Sugar Pie that it would be done in her thumb the same as the last 2 times....(Now understand this girl wants everything explained to her 2-3-10 times....) she was not impressed with me when there was a change of plans. I could only explain it to her once and the nurses came over with the needle. One held her arm the other tried to put it in her chubby little tear drenched arm while I held her singing in her ear...Daddy was in the waiting room and could hear her, it broke his heart too. The buggerfly didn't work so they went to her other arm and it wasn't going to work so they went with the original plan and did it in her finger.....this is the second time they had such a hard time with drawing blood from her. No wonder she is afraid to go...sheesh. Then again I wouldn't want their job either. I just wish they could call parents who have toddlers and prep you a little and even give you some tips on how to make it easier on them....I mean the nurses also. It would be a great benefit to all. She cried and straightened out her legs and kicked and I felt like dirt. When all was said and done we went out with Daddy and she got her sugar free lolly pop and we were on our way. So happy that is over....and I think she has forgiven me....since I DID make her feel no less than a princess when I came home from running a few errands! (On her behalf...) ;O)

Ok....as I'm just finishing this post there is a little girl who is curled up on my lap whimpering....she just watched 3/4 of Cinderella and is very upset with the Step Mother and that nasty cat.....we don't watch very much TV at all but most of her little friends love Princesses and she is invited to a Princess Tea Party (birthday) this weekend and I thought she might like to know who all these princesses are....I think I might have to skip a few scenes and ease her into this....she cried watching Bambi the other day...I think we have a very sensitive/big hearted little girl on our hands.....just like her big sister used to be.

I wish I could just jump into my monitor and gave her a big hug. She's adorable.

Well, everyone cries at Bambi...poor thing. I haven't shown this one to Evan yet. He is sensitive too. He doesn't like anything scary, and will say "I don't lika thesa one".

Poor little thing. I remember when Wendy had to have this done. It just isn't fair at all!!

I love the princess things you got for her...looks like she does too. So cute.

I think it is isnteresting your fingers hit the g instead of the t for Butterfly and I think you wre in your own way expressing your frustration at the whole process....Which I think is perfectly fine Fruedian slip, I would want to call something a different name after all that pain caused to my wee one.
Bless her little heart and momma's too.

Oh bless her heart. Whenever Elena has to go get blood work done, we also have to prepare her as best as we can.

Thankfully her English is getting better.

But when plans change, she gives me that, " Are you betraying me?" look. Which rips your heart. I know how you feel.

Being tender hearted is a good thing! I always believed I rather have tender hearted children and be tender hearted myself, then to be *strong*. I think tenderness keeps us close to our Father's heart and eyes. Strength comes from HIm, not us being hard.

She is b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l. :)

Our girls are at the same stage loving everythng princess. I would say away from Snow White it seems to be the most unfavorite and scary one for us these days. Sorry about the pockys.
