Once Apon A Time......our love story....

This was during our "Unofficial" pre dating stage.
This was us at my best friends wedding a couple of years ago.
Half Gaelic, Half Garlic! asked.
I can't remember this and you might have already covered it, but tell us the story of how you met your husband and how he proposed to you!!
Shane and I were acquaintances for about 3 years before we started dating. I thought he was handsome, but arrogant. He didn’t mean to come off this way but when you work part time in a bar as a bouncer babysitting adults and having to kick them out I guess your authoritative disposition can be mistaken for arrogance. In 1998 a mutual friend set us up on a date. Both of us had just had a break-up and we were sort of going threw the same things and our mutual friend kept saying we had to meet; she said we had a lot in common. So she arranged for he and I to meet and we went for a coffee at a local coffee shop. He was so different than what my first impression of him was, he was real, transparent and genuine. We hit is off and decided to hang out a few more times to see what would happen unofficially dating. We had long conversations and seemed to finish each others sentences.
One day he called me at my shop and said he had to see me after work to talk. He came in and I had locked everything up and shut the neon open sign off. We had idle chit chat and then he said, “So do you want to know what I had to come see you for?” I hesitated for a second unsure I wanted to hear what he was going to say. A thousand things went threw my head, he’s going to tell me 1) he likes me just as a friend 2) he met someone else 3) he likes me but is just not ready to call us an item 4) he is getting back with his ex….ect. He motioned for me to come out from behind the desk and he put his hand on my shoulder and my knees went to jelly he leaned forward and whispered in my ear “I think I’m falling in love with you”…….I stood there in total disbelief! How can you fall in love after 2 weeks of hanging out with someone I thought. I didn’t want to say it back because I didn’t know if I felt the same way yet and it would be just cheesy to reciprocate. So it was a little awkward for a few seconds. We decided to make it official and start actually dating.
Our first real date as a couple was that Friday May 12th, we went to see Armageddon at the old Capitol Theatre. Shane pulled the age old stretch move and rested his arm on my shoulder and I got tingly all over. He started to say “I Love You” all the time and I would tell him to be patient with me. I did believe I loved him but I just didn’t want to be hurt and I also wanted to be sure what I was feeling was more than just infatuation. Finally one day at the end of August we were out one day, he had his head on my shoulder with his eyes closed and I whispered “I really do love you” and a slow sweet smile swept across his face. We were totally smitten. We dated for 3 years before he asked me to marry him.
There were a couple of times I thought would have been perfect opportunities but they passed!!! Once when we were at Disney walking threw the Castle and I was certain he was going to do it right there and make me feel like a princess….I even slowed down when it looked like we were getting too close to the door but he didn’t….I came out of the castle a whole different person than when I went in let me tell ya! I was soo sad, but I didn’t want him to know why! The second time was when we went the next summer to Toronto and we were at the top of the CN tower….but it didn’t happen there either :o(. But see both times I would have totally been expecting it.
October 2001 I was upstairs in my room and he came over and blindfolded be and guided me down to the living room he sat me on the couch and hit the play button on the stereo which played our song which was from the Armageddon movie called “I don’t wanna close my eyes” by Aerosmith and he got down on one knee and held my hand while he told me that he loved me and couldn’t imagine life without me and I was everything he would ever want in a mate and then he asked. ”Will you marry me?” I missed seeing his face when he asked cause he didn’t take the blindfold off so I ripped it off and said YES! What was nice was that it was just the right timing for him; he wanted to wait for just the right moment. It was a total surprise to me.
We got married September 20, 2002, and I felt like a total princess. I'll never forget the look on his face when he seen me walking toward him that day, his smile will be forever etched in my mind. It was a smile that showed more true emotion than any word could have ever articulated.

What is Your favorite thing about hubby??????????????only one.......has to be the most favorite.
The one thing that I would say I like most about my husband is that when he is committed to something he doesn’t look back. I’m so glad he committed himself to me. He’s my rock. I love him more and more every day.

He's a keeper! :) What a sweet, wonderful story. I remember when I was waiting for Doug to propose. There were many times I felt he might do it but didn't and I was so disappointed! In the end, he did it the perfect way!
