A Thankful Heart & My Blog Award

One day last February Shane was on his way to town when he came upon an accident, he jumped out of the car and ran over to the vehicle to find a man confined to the front seat unable to move. The mans two children, 11 and 6 years old were with him, one in the front and one in the back. The children appeared to be fine. He and another passer by each ripped the doors off the car to get inside. The children were pretty shook up. Shane took his gloves off and put them on the fathers hands and he talked to him until the emergency response arrived. The father suffered multiple broken ribs and a broken spleen and was in hospital for quite awhile. The children were both air lifted to the IWK Children's Hospital and went through months of rehabilitation for a number of medical reasons. A few days after the accident the man's father stopped in and couldn't thank Shane enough for assisting his son and grandchildren at the scene. Shane and I both had tears in our eyes when he left.
A man pulled into the driveway when Shane was outside the other day and handed him this card, wished him a Happy New Year and drove off. He didn't recognise the man right away but knew as soon as he opened the card who it was. It was from the man in the accident and he just wanted to thank Shane and let him know how grateful he was. He was probably so relieved that he and his children were alive so they could enjoy the holidays together that it reminded him of the things he was thankful for. He gave Shane a couple of gift certificates and a beautiful card. What a blessing for him to know how his small act of kindness touched someones life and left such an impression.
