Our 1st Gotcha Day Anniversary

This picture was taken one year ago before we went to China.

She looked Afraid, confused, weak, malnutritioned, concerned, vulnerable, regimented, uncertain, sad, timid, lonely, frail, dim, insecure....but always loved.....she just didn't know by who.

This picture was taken a week ago.

Now she is loved, protected, confidant, aware, strong, well fed, free, brave, assertive, comfortable, certain, happy, sociable, healthy, bright, curious, brilliant, lovable, trusting, secure and full of joy, hugs, kisses and giggles.

Today I was reminded of God goodness when the sun was shining and it was pouring rain out. Sugar Pie and I went to the back door and watched as the sun reflected on every tiny droplet as it danced in the air. It was simply stunning t see. The horses in the back field seemed to even welcome it. I held her and we thanked Jesus for such a beautiful sight. I had a feeling that if we went to the front of the house we would see a rainbow and sure enough there was the most perfect arch with incredible vivid colors. What a perfect day for God to send a rainbow, on the eve of our Gotcha Day anniversary. I don't believe this was a coincidence at all, you can believe in the stars lining up or the roll of a dice or your horoscope or what have you but it only takes the faith of a mustard seed to believe God can and will speak to you in a unique way that He knows you will hear Him if you listen. So back to why the "rainbow" what perfect for our Gotcha Day anniversary...I didn't ever tell you all this story and it's pretty amazing actually. A few days before we got the call from our provincial adoption coordinator I was on the Internet looking at a few different sites, I came across a picture of a little girl and I looked at it, then a little later I went back to it again and showed a friend who was over, then again when my husband came home from work. When we finally got the call we hightailed it down to the provincial coordinators office and when she showed us her file........ our mouths dropped to the floor! IT WAS HER! The little girl's picture that I had seen only a few days before! Over 147 million orphans in the world and we seen her face first! That my friends is God speaking in the special way He speaks to us.

Here is the cherry on top for my story though. The name of the site where we first seen our Sugar Pie's face was *"Rainbow" Kids"*.....the faith of a mustard seed is all it would have taken to hear Him speak in our special language.

So I had to take a picture (couldn't get the entire rainbow in the pic) of Sugar standing under the end of the rainbow. Now that right there is a pot-of-gold!

I can't believe it's been a year, she was very much like a 2 1/2-3 year old when she first came home but now she is definitely a 5 year old. She has come so far in such a short time, I still marvel at how well adapted she has become. She is so much more than we ever could have imagined. She has forever changed us.

We feel so incredibly blessed to have two beautiful and wonderful daughters who couldn't be any more alike than what they are. When Jac was 5 she was very much like Sugar is now....so I guess we must be doing something right. :o)

Happy Forever Family Day Sugar Pie.

Thank you Lord for the special gift of little girls, 5 or 23....they will always be our little girls.
