34th LIDiversary

Well here we are at our 34th log in date anniversary.
People often comment on how patient we are....to which I then explain it isn't like we have a choice...I mean sure we have choices but, for our hearts desire to be fulfilled we choose to do what we are doing.....wait. Some people really have a hard time understanding that, but how many people say they can't wait till they retire?.....that statement being said has a desire attached to it right?...they have no choice to fulfill their hearts desire but to wait!
I have people, who with glum long faces come up to me and say "Have you heard anything yet?" like they are asking if my Great, great, great, great, grampa is still hanging on....lol..go ahead ask me with a smile on your face! I love to talk about it! It isn't some cloud of thunder that I carry over my head until I'm freed up by a referral! We're ok to wait for our child from China.
I've had people come to me and say that they would be willing to be a surragent mother for me....that is very, very thoughtful and comes with much sincerity. These are people who care for me very deeply....but I smile and wait...I have had a person call me and ask me to adopt a relative....yes, seriously I did......when I tried to explain why we wouldn't she really didn't understand she just said sarcastically..."So your really set on a kid from China huh?" ... to which I said "Yup!" and we wait.
I'm not looking for people to feel sorry for us, I'm looking for people to come alongside of us. To partner with us and just celebrate our love for her and realize she is very much alive in our hearts. That is one of the reasons I choose to blog, you ladies are so wonderful and many of you are on the same ride. I treasure each one of you and want you to know that your friendship is sometimes the one thing that sustains me, cause this wait isn't for the faint of heart.
We know that our daughter is in China, our hearts overflow with thoughts of her, we talk about our future with her in it, we pray for her, we dream of her, and miss her terribly, we long to have her with us and your right we don't like the wait but we wait, and with that said....it really is a Happy 34th Lidaversary.

Our wait was only 18 months but I can still remember people telling me after that they figured becasue we hadn't gone yet that we had changed our minds about adopting... It didn't matter how many times I told the same people that the wait was going to be a very long one they still didn't understand... Hang in there...

I love how you said that. It is one thing I think we all had in common during the wait! I pray for those still waiting....it is hard. Your are right, it is the only thing you can do. Mike asked me if I would wait another 2 years and I said yes to get Hannah.

I partner with you!
