Where have I Been?

I know, I know, I haven't posted in a week! It's been utter chaos around here! Let me get caught up to date the best I can in one post without you hitting the snooze button.

We planned a craft/bake sale a while ago and it was this past weekend. One of the ladies who was going to come and help decorate had to cancel due to an illness so there was a little wrench thrown into the plans. Nothing we couldn't handle but none the less a wrench. My partner in crime called me to update me and we made other plans. I had to work so she had another lady go with her to decorate. While I was at work telling people about our fundraising sale they asked if they could purchase some baked goods on the spot ........I sold a lot of my stuff before the sale even started......panic struck and I wondered if I would even have enough so last Wednesday I worked 9-6 then came home made 12 loaves of Chocolate Chip Banana Bread, 8 dozen Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Coffee Cookies, and 6 dozen Cherry Balls, cleaned my house and did the dishes and fell asleep walking TO my bed in the weee hours of the morning. Thursday I worked, then because our youth pastor was out of town I facilitated youth group at my house..........well.....they all love coming to my house and so 32 or more youth spilled into the wreck room in our basement. It was a really good night actually, we prayed for our government and all it's going threw right now then we went into a teach about love letters and how God must love to read and reread the Psalms where David wrote Him love letters. I then read them some of the letters that Jac wrote me threw the years and told them even though the letters were a few years old they make me smile every time I read them. I asked them to quite their hearts and write a letter to their parents, put it in an envelope and put under the tree. I feel like the past comes back to give me a hug every time I read those letters she wrote. The one that meant the most to me this time around reading them was one she wrote in 2001, at the end of the letter she said......"I can only hope that one day far, far, far down the road, I'll be just as good a Mom as you".....wow! Now she's is a mom, and I'm certain she will be a wonderful one. OK back on track with where my week went. Friday I rearranged my appointments so as to have the afternoon off to get to the sale to set up. I got there and set my stuff up as did everyone else who was selling stuff. The cafe was as beautiful as it was for the sale we had in the spring. Friday evening was pretty steady. Shane was home with my nephew and a few of his buddies playing wii on the big screen. We told Colby he could have a sleepover with some buds. Saturday we worked the sale from 9-4:30, it was not as busy as we had hoped. Regardless we had fun and frankly it was nice to sit behind the table. I sold almost half of what I brought. The money I made from my table is going towards my mission trip to Nain, Labrador this coming August. We each have to raise 2300.00. I made about 300.00 at the sale. Then about 3 hours before we were about to pack up and call it a day, a friend of the family came in who would like to remain anonymous and called me aside. He said he felt God put it on his heart to sow a seed in me to help the children in Nain. He prayed about it and asked someone else to partner in praying about it with him. He handed me an envelope and I opened it to see a check for 1000.00 inside! Over half of my trip is covered! I was speechless, truly without a word to say and not only because I had a lump in my throat the size of planet Jupiter but because I was very humbled that this friend has the faith not only in God but that he believes I can make a difference in the lives of these children. The encouragement he gave me by this act of kindness far exceeds the dollar amount on the check he wrote. God sends us grace and encouragement threw people who can speak into our lives....this person may never fully understand the power of encouragement that was given to me that day by just believing in me. All I could do was say thank you, while I held back the tears.

Father, allow us to honor You in all that we do this season. Let us bless someone else in need this Christmas for the purpose of glorifying Your name alone, just as this family friend did. Bless him in a big way Father. Amen
