Novemberance Day!
This was what Jaclyn came out with when she was in about grade 4. I didn't even realize what she said til she said it again! It just sounded so natural coming out of her, and it made total sence to her at the time.
In the city of Halifax this week 20 or so war brides renewed their vows with their husbands of 60 and some years. The most common comment from them was " Yes, we would do it all over again". It was very touching to watch as the Veterans shed tears and embrace after kissing their brides.
Why Do We Remember?
By remembering their service and their sacrifice, we recognize the tradition of freedom these men and women fought to preserve. They believed that their actions in the present would make a significant difference for the future, but it is up to us to ensure that their dream of peace is realized. On Remembrance Day, we acknowledge the courage and sacrifice of those who served their country and acknowledge our responsibility to work for the peace they fought hard to achieve.

I agree! I love that our kids can realize the sacrifice that was made for US to be able to live in a free country. I'm not so sure we really appreciate it until we have been in a country that's not free. It's amazing how much we take for granted!
